Farr Festival Review
Celebrating it’s second year Farr Festival is one of Hertfordshire’s best kept secrets, set in a secluded wood just 30 minutes train ride from north London it boasted an impressive house and techno line up. One of the major strengths of the festival asides from it’s price (weekend tickets started at just £35!) was the laid back ultra friendly vibe that can only be found at slightly smaller boutique festivals .
I loved the size of the festival, with the main arena only being a 10 minute stroll away from the campsite. In the past I’ve often felt at other festivals that there is an overbearing amount of security but Farr Festival managed to maintain the balance between a secure site and a chilled atmosphere and all the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.
By 9pm on the Friday I’d had enough of chilling in the sunshine and made my way to the Farr Live Stage where Maribou State entranced an already building crowd with a steady mix of house interlaced with tropical vibes. He handed the crowd on a plate to Bondax who absolutely smashed it.
After taking a breather at one of the reasonably priced bars I squeezed my way into the shack for what has to be the best set I’ve ever seen Huxley play definitely one of my highlights of the weekend. Jonny Cade subsequently took to the controls but by the end of his set him and Huxley were going back to back and were clearly enjoying themselves as much as the crowd.
I spent most of Saturday getting hyped for Miguel Campbell’s set needless to say he didn’t disappoint and when dropped ‘Something Special’ the Sancho Panza stage absolutely went off. I think the unmistakable way that Campbell makes your want to jump up and dance whilst simultaneously chill on down perfectly emulates the overall vibe of Farr Festival.
Here at TLG were more than excited to see what Farr Festival has in store for 2013, if you go to any festival next summer- this should be it.
